Keep visiting your hearing care professional

We recommend returning for a follow-up hearing care appointment after a few weeks. After that, you should visit your hearing care professional once a year. It’s normal for people’s hearing to change slightly over time, so hearing aids need fine-tuning to ensure they still match it.

Think of your relationship with your hearing care professional as an ongoing relationship rather than an isolated hearing aid fitting. You’ll need them if anything happens with your hearing aids or hearing, so stay in touch and contact them whenever you need help.

It’s an important relationship, so if you don’t feel comfortable with your hearing care professional, try a different one.

How often do hearing aids need adjusting?

When hearing aids are new, they often need fine-tuning after a few weeks. This is because it takes some time for your brain to adjust to the change in sound information. Adjustments can sometimes be made remotely, via the Oticon Companion app.

Otherwise, your annual visits to your hearing care professional will be a good opportunity to check and make minor adjustments. However, if you notice an issue at any other time, contact your hearing care professional for advice.
